Lets be direct for once. I dislike people who speak Mandarin all the time even when you know the person you're sitting with have zero knowledge on how to speak the language. C'mon, social skills buddy, at least translate it if you wanna speak it. Correction: even if you don't know the person doesn't speak the language, you shouldn't assume that everyone in the world speaks it. If you can speak English when you're sitting with an Australian, why can't you do the same with me?

Ah anyway. It's something that ALWAYS bugs me, but I'll get over it.
In the meantime, I just think that this song is just super happy and can cheer anyone up!

But as much as you want to make a U-turn, back to where you were, you can't.
All you can do is go where the road takes you.

Haven't had a talk like this for awhile now.
Life seems simpler here.

How I wish I could rewind this summer all over.
I'm only turning 21, but I have a feeling this might be the best summer of my life.
Is that too early too tell?

These 2 months, I learnt:

how to be a better friend, through an awesome friend of mine.
You're turning 21. It's time that you be the bigger person.
It doesn't take a lot to be excellent friends.
People can touch you in the simplest ways. Screw those people who are heartless enough to get it.
Friendships are meant to happen naturally. I should stop trying so hard to please people. (A wise girl told me this today).
Chick flicks have some truths in them. Excellent friends DO push/encourage each other. There is no jealousy.
It doesn't matter if you're on opposite ends of the world. Where there's a will, there's a way.
Good friends know your fears. Excellent friends help you conquer them.
It's okay to adapt to each person's unique personality. But once it changes you - get out.
It's funny how some people can make you smile every single day without fail. I wanna be that person too someday.
Trust is crucial. I give you my trust easily. But if you can't reciprocate my trust, maybe you're not the one for me.

usually, when someone hands you a sausage, you just swallow it thinking it's either chicken or beef.

when my mum hands me a bag of sausages, i had to ask: what sausage is this?
knowing she's in food tech, it's likely to be something other than chicken or beef. One time, she made us eat tongue, thinking it was normal beef. eeew. True enough, it was fish sausage. All types of freshwater fish sausages. Hey, at least it wasn't tongue =p

it's intimidating. to be one of two first years here.

it's tiring. to sleep late, to wake up early, to commute in KTM, to juggle MSO, besides handling the workload.

it's new. everything.

it's rewarding. at the end of the day, hopefully.

Day 1 was like orientation. groups of 5, briefings, tour. One of the highlights was to be given the trust to take care of a 3-7k laptop for 2 months, on the very 1st day. Familiar faces made the experience feel slightly less alien to me. A 1 hour test to write 4 essays: marks given, totalling to a hundred.

Day 2 was in one word, boring. My team consists of 3 interns. I'm in HR advisory. Everyone had work to do except me. My mentor was not around. Was struggling to keep awake from the previous night movie (but i did sleep in the movie too). I quite like my team, and the people here in general (although some interns did think i was too young/inexperienced for this).

Day 3 - now. Met Joshua in KL Sentral as we alight from the same LRT train. Small world they say. He's off to bangi to meet another client.

I remember reading this somewhere, so I shall paraphrase what I remember:

Internships are not just resume builders. They are like walkways leading up to a house. Looking ahead, you get to view/evaluate the house you're walking up to. Once you're actually inside the house, you'll get a better idea if it is the house that you would like to live in - maybe for forever.

I really like this analogy. Thank you to whoever that came up with this.
With this next step that i'm taking, I hope in time, I'll find that dream house of mine. =]

I'm glad exams finished pretty early.

I had a "lucky charm" with me this semester. Supposedly to tie my hair, but ended up just being a routine to go to the exam hall. Thanks Sheila!

Tried a couple different methods of studying this time. It was fun, but when it comes down to productivity, I think it's at its highest when I'm in my room, alone. It's just a habit i guess. Oh! I'm VERY proud of this cheat sheet that I editted! heeee! =D 6 columns, font size 5pt!

Anyway, something's been bothering me, so I'd rather not blog bout anything serious right now or it might just come out emo. haha. I'm just a little confused right now. Just don't wanna leave Canberra with unresolved issues. =(

The first thing you should learn is the action plan:

D = Danger
R = Response
A = Airway
B = Breathing
C = Circulation

Sure, first aid may have changes every year, but I'm pretty sure this doesn't change.
I wish to emphasise on the D. Danger. The first thing you should look out for is danger to yourself. You can't help someone if you, yourself are the casualty. I personally don't think that it's selfishness. I think that it's logical. How can I help you if I can't even help myself? We'll both be sitting ducks..

I think sometimes this can be applied in life, beyond CPR.
Although, i admit that there's a fine line between this and selfishness, I believe that most of the time, it's not the case of the latter..

Back from the dead

Yes, this blog has been dead for awhile, but not anymore!

Since my last post, lets see what's changed/happened:

Had the time of my life at Melbourne & went skiing at Mt Buller.
Was surprised with my results (Math specifically).
Had friends come over to Canberra for holidays/NCG.
NCG done and over with. It was quite a rollercoaster ride.
Bought the guitar in the previous post (just that it's not red).
Celebrated my 20th birthday (4 times in ONE DAY!).
Had a bunch more low moments of my life.
Met new people.
Started Sem 2 (still have no mood for tutorials..).

So, yeah winter break was a fun month. Now can't wait to go home.

On a different note, I've always, always pictured uni life to be a fun ride that you share with your friends. It just doesn't seem to be happening that way right now. So many things unresolved.
Wishing for a better semester.

I don't know if sacrificing my time, my studies, my brain, my thoughts, my heart - would do any good. Seems like my sacrifices are unrequited. Should I just move on instead of getting hurt? Who am i kidding, either way it hurts. Sighs, can't you just see what i'm trying to do? I know it's probably not worth it, but I have no idea why I try and try anyway! Just 2 days ago, we celebrated dearest Nini's birthday. It was fun fun fun! I think a lot of ppl had fun even though it wasn't their birthdays. Surprised her with 2 cakes! 1 was a decoy and for Shen to smash it. Made a video for Nini. Hopefully she liked it.

Then we went to Belconnen next day to taste Chef Joshua's cooking. He really treated us like royalty! Felt so welcomed hahha.. He cooked turkey meatballs and pumpkin rice. My 1st time eating.

At night Shen & I cooked dinner for Nini. Menu: Black pepper chicken, oyster sauce bak choy and beans. Then off to Jasmine's celebration.

Yayyyy the much awaited break is here! What better way to celebrate the end of Math1115 mid-sem exam than out celebrating Edward's birthday and McD!! I think i might just manage a pass for this course..

Last night we had a FEAST at nini's place. Menu: butter prawns, curry chicken, kurma chicken, beansprouts & cabbage. Then played mafia til 1.30am hahaha XD (yesss still one of my favourite games ever)
Slept for like 6 hours only. Went shopping at DFO yay!!
I didn't buy THAT much kay. Just the 'necessities" like my bag to bring to Sydney hehe.

I'll be in Sydney from 5th to 9th April soooo excited!
But at the same time, i don't want it to come so fast, because then it'll end so soon! (just like genting..)

Sometimes I hate it when science or medical students think that their field is the ONLY field that matters and that's difficult.

I know what you do is important and stuff, but that's not a reason for you to look down on Arts/Business students. It's just as difficult, only in a different perspective.

Of course, this does not apply to all science students. Just the few.

It's been nothing but FUN!
Will update the details once i move into Toad Hall tomorrow. It's quite sad actually since i have to leave Nini's place cos i've loved staying/sleeping with her XD

Bought my linens/manchester, kettle and such but i dunno how to fit it in my small small room (i hear it's 3m X 3m).

I have a new phone number! I'm using THREE and i got a nokia 6760 slide woo! the one i wanted. everybodyelse got the boring phones like blackberry/E71. LOL!

Senior showed some useful shortcuts today which was really useful!
I dunno what electives to take yet in my 2nd sem.

In a few hours time i'll be leaving to the land down under yo!

Mixed feelings. Sighs i don't even know how to feel. I don't wanna go yet, but it's kinda exciting especially sicne i'm going with a group of ppl! Haven't really settled accommodation, that's a bit worrying but i guess everything happens for a reason. Wasn't as lucky as Nini and Shen to get a place on-campus, but I have Kek Sheng around! Yay!

Luggage is SO overweight. I seriously don't know whatelse to cut down. They're all my necessities d. Anyway, I might not have that MAS Grad Card, but i have my credit card woo!

Anyway, before i go, just wanted to "ber-raya" a bit.
Sorry if i have done or said anything out of anger or sadness. Sorry for all the times I've been too noisy in class. Thanks to everyone who has made me who i am today. I've been waiting for this moment all my life. It's what i've been studying for. But when the time comes, I don't wanna leave. Hope to see you guys there in OZ kay? Today i realised that some people just have no purpose whatsoever in life. They just have too much time on their hands. This fella called my phone (i think he either dialled at random or got the wrong number).

So, i said nicely, "hey, wrong number" and hung up.
He then messaged "boleh kenal tak?" =.=
Then he called like 3 times and i rejected it la duh.
He messaged again "maaf saja nak kenal" (as if that's gonna make me answer his call).
He called 2 more times then i decided to let my brother answer my phone.
He hung up immediately and left me in peace =)

Sad to say, i'm partly ashamed on his behalf.

Lih Jing came back from Aussie and organized and outing. I haven't seen her since school! She picked us (minus Rachel) up and brunched at ikea (why ikea ar?). Fun fun fun until Rachel had to ditch us for her college buds XP Jing got us each a TIMTAM from aussie! i got the double-coated flavour. thanks jing.

Went back to sleep before the much-awaited-night. but failed. when i WANT to sleep, i couldn't. Then worked for CNY deco. It was so so soooooo much more work than stocktake. It was more of a mental challenge this time. I think i stood for about 10 out of 12 hours. No fun at all since i was stuck in the building room writing internal forms. Some of them were luckier - they got to build the stuff and actually decorate. Wei Keen even got to work with phin wern and drilled through pillows. oh the upside is that we got free shirts. Then Wei Keen sent me home. hehe these 2 days was lucky enough to have friends who are awesome enough to fetch me. XD

came back, and learnt to cook the family recipe for nasi lemak. trust me, it's the BEST ever. It's been in the family since my grandma's grandma. Then i slept almost the whole day. At night was happy to learn that the uni placements are out and...

2009 has been an eye-opening, awesome, bittersweet year because:

i learnt to play volleyball.
i've officially left INTI!
i've had the awesome-mest roommie ever!
my classmates are my floormates (convenient much!).
i've discovered new things about myself.
i realised i hate lizards even more than ever.
it's my last year to celebrate big events with family.

2009 was also an awesome year for music. i like pretty much everything i hear on the radio! who can forget: poker face, boom boom pow, you belong with me.

2010 is foreseen to be filled with lotsa adventure & new experiences.
can't wait! (..or can i?)

btw, i think a bunch of us are so over with fireworks.
still, i miss previous year's celebration at ling's!
but seriously, pollution's increasing to the max with so many fireworks in one area. LOL.

I've been unlucky in the cinema.

Somehow I always get a seat in front of an ignorant, rude soul.
Come on, i know your legs are long (even though sometimes they're not). Can't you just keep it to yourself and not tap or kick my freakin' chair?

Imagine a super long movie like Avatar. i had to just sit there and "enjoy" your suspense throughout the movie. It only made the whole movie experience a whole lot worse. I even get to stretch out my neck by turning behind to give u the dirty look a time or two (more than 5 times actually). Can't you just get a clue? You don't expect me to ruin everyone else's peace & quiet by shouting at you, do ya?

Right after the movie, i stood and gave you a loooong stare. I hope the message sends through because i believe you're smart enough to not need me to spell it out for ya.

O-m-gee i tell you.

reached immigration a lil before 7.30am. went home at 4.30pm =.="
cmon, they started with 1001, my number was 1146!! they only attended to me at 1.55pm. (actually i came the day before but the number finished?)
After that, another 2 hours to wait for the passport. luckily we were smart enough to hang at skypark subang terminal.

Tip: Don't EVER go there during school hols. i dint have a choice. The most UNproductive day ever! but thankfully managed to finish it in one day.

While waiting, got some recent news. hmm UAC offers are out, popo passed on, lady asked me how to use her canggih nokia E series when i was teaching my mum how to use hers (i dun even use a nokia).

Slept at 11.30pm last night. Woke up at 4.30am (probably cos mum and all getting ready to go to Bangkok). Just as i wanted to resume my sleep, Jo Anne messaged! (thanks!)

And so rushed to the fastest/nearest notebook to check. Took few deep breaths and tadaa!
19 19 17 19 18. Was pretty disappointed at 1st cos no merits (i want one!).
After I clicked the Tertiary Entrance, i was grinning from ear to ear. Words can't describe how ~~happy~~ thankful i was to meet the requirement. Woke some people up & even called Nini. Didn't feel bad at all for waking them up XD

The downside: I'm probably gonna find SOME way to meet Yi Ling's deal. I'll try to negotiate =p hehe. Still don't know how she got A20 for freaking english last year.

Anyway, congrats to ALL! Hopefully everyone can fly.

I am bored to death at the moment. seriously. i think i could even go into depression.

i can't sit at home all day urgh. wanna go out with rachel but she's only free on fridays. i miss ling!!!! come backkkk for holiday!!!

anyway there seems to be so much preparation left:

apply visa (that's only do-able after results).
to renew or not to renew passport? currently it's expiring mid 2012 so i'mma have to transfer the details of the new one to the visa which CAN be quite mafan. But i dunno if they'll allow me to renew now. if i renew now, i get it at half price. I've emailed Aussie embassy bout sum stuff but it's taking 2 working days + weekends.
Haven't really shopped for stuff i need to fly (since mum practically ask me to buy everything there, i'm gonna have nil quids there).
a stack of JPA papers which i don't wanna touch any time soon.

feels like this is the most unproductive holiday ever. if only i have a car. urghhh so bored. somebody entertain me!

Day 2 started off with the girls straightening our hair. Don't ask why. Karin's hair was already super straight so she didn't need it. hehe.

On the way down, this lady was telling us how the elevator stopped the last time she took it, so now she's paranoid. Brekkie at McD again. Made friends with this cute lil boy by helpin him get sauce. Then, off to play!

Urgh. Silly dragon that drove us crazy.

When checking in on Day 1, saw a bunch of people carrying this cute lil dragon. Now i know why they drag this thing so proudly! it's so hard to get. We probably spent RM30 to win this thing. (but we failed). We can't even toss a coin onto a plate. Sounds simple enough, try it.

Then there was this pink seahorse! No luck too..

So lemme introduce you to this bear Vid won at a duck fishing game. He's our mascot for the day.

My 1st time on the teacup ride. Usually i dun take family rides you see. Unfortunately, that day, it was foggy til only the family rides were open. Some guy puked in the teacup. After that nobody else was really spinning.

That night, wanted to watch 2012 but no tickets. So we settled for Christmas Carol. I slept after the 3rd ghost appeared. Shen screamed "this is the worst 13 bucks i ever spent" after the movie. you get the drift.

Nope. Day 2's not over yet. We bathed and all, then off to apek's room to play cards. Then Shen taught us this Mafia game. Some murderer/detective/doctor game. haha was really fun since people kept considering our personal lives. I was even tricked by Jun Hao, grr. This ended up being our game whenevr we're bored. Slept at around 5am.

Day 3 - Woke up at 8+am.

Hotel brekkie yay! Wasn't as bad as we were told. But there were tonnnnnes of humans everywhere! We spent lik >10mins searching for our friends in the place. All i rmmbr was the omelette was worth the wait hehe.

Then left early cos didn't wanna miss the bus again. Arrived an hour early so we played the mafia game again until the bus arrived!

Didn't know that i wasn't invincible to motion sickness. Even though i slept, i still woke up with the sick feeling until i got down. We part ways with thsoe taking LRT. I was the only one going to Serdang. The boys were worried we couldn't get into the train cos 5pm train was delayed. It was seriously the PACKEST train i've ever seen or been on period. Even sardines would say it was packed! When i got out, i never felt more relieved in my life. Phew.

That was the story of the 3 day genting adventure. Hopefully we can go to Gold Coast and do this again!

Slept at Vid's room in block E. Came back to block A, bathed, got ready and off we go! That's 11 people consisting of 4 roses & 7 bodyguards!

We reached KL Sentral with 30 mins to spare! Not much time to eat though, so we tapau-ed McDs. Unfortunately had to throw away the drinks =( Could say we ALMOST missed the bus though hehe..

I rmmbr it had holes underneath my feet & I could sea the sea!

I don't look so nervous here, but i hardly moved.
Quite glad i wasn't THAT scared of it anymore though ;)

Waited for a 100 people to check in before we could. Meanwhile, we took some pics. Yes, we were reallyy bored.

Yay after checking in, we cleaned up and relaxed awhile. Then, dinner at Kenny Rogers and later haunted house. Haha was grabbing to Ray the whole way until his shoe laces came off. Not really worth it i think, but fun!

After that we went bowling and dropped by the arcade. Wanted to play Daytona but they had this inconvenient (but smart) system to use the card. boo. so we played photohunt instead.

Btw, the toilet & shower in the rooms were un-lockable & were oh-so-small. I even hurt myself while showering a couple of times (my elbow bled!).

Today's raya was exhausting. Visited couple of houses. Came back and napped.

The easiest decision i've ever had to made turned out to be the best one yet. Yes, the decision to accept the offer to go do SAM 18 months ago. It has been a rollercoaster ride with the ups & downs we've gone through. Brings back memories of high school when I smile everyday without fail in INTI. Priceless things that i've learnt during the past 18 months:

First & most important: marks don't matter (yes, i figured this before but i'm reminded again).
There IS such a thing as a "happy room".
There's always someone better than you.
Once you stopped caring about what others think, you'll be happy.
First impressions don't always matter. Neither do others' judgement.
Don't take yourself too seriously. Life's short.
It's good to be vulnerable sometimes. It makes you feel human.
It's worth paying more for good, halal food.
~~You are what you eat.~~ Your mood is what you eat.
Dedicated lecturers are hard to find, but not impossible.
You can never have enough time when you're having a blast.
You tend to underestimate how much you're actually blessed with.
There are always 2 sides to a coin.
Good friends are always there no matter what, through thick & thin.
... and i'm very thankful for that.

Just finished watching the premiere of Biggest Loser Asia.

Was just reminded of the hardship these people went through. Can't believe the magnitude of the impact from teasing. Some of them dropped out of school because of their appearance & the teasing. This has got to STOP. So many of them still managed to muster a smile. Love their personalities. Wouldn't wanna be in the producer's shoes cos it's a really tough decision i think.

Just think how much the perception of an ideal beauty affect the universe.
Not just beauty. the ideals period.
Looks like ENL research wasn't for nothing after all eh.

My point is, that there's more to life than good grades and being the best. Right noww i'm just concentrating on being happy. And i'm glad that i'm reminded of this.

Anyways..
I think i'm so bored now that i feel like writing poems again..

Yesss i've officially moved out of INTI hostel and now permanently staying in Subang for the next 2 months or so. Haven't finished unpacking. Gimme a couple of days. Unpacking one bag at a time. just write the beginning proving part, then equate to whatever they wanted. tadaa!

SUCH a relief that specmath is finally over and done with.
as the saying goes: time flies when you're having fun. but time flies with speed of light when you're doing spec math. It shoiuld be a 4 hour paper at least.
